Strongheld is a handwritten script that is big beautiful. Strongheld comes with a stylistic alternates, swashes, and multi-lingual support. Brickton might seem dominating with it’s bold characters and pointy serifs. Getting up close with it reveals that although there are no curves in characters, corners and arches are chamfered to give at least some softness to it. Brickton uses a layered font system that let’s you superimpose styles. Use Brickton Regular and Brickton Lines on top of each other to create a design with text that has an inline style to it. Or use Brickton Ridge for another type of line style. In total there are 8 styles of Brickton as well as two bonus fonts for banners & badges that works great with use of the Brickton typeface family.

Akin is a monolinear script typeface designed in a single weight. Its letters’ designs combine geometric elements with a retro aesthetic, swashes, and a steep slope. Characters’ sides are straight, giving the typeface a condensed feeling overall. Akin’s design language feels reminiscent of both the 1950s and the 1990s, but there isn’t just one specific style that it cites: Akin is a timeless face, which looks like it could have always been a part of graphic design. Like almost every good OpenType script font, Akin has a lot of alternates. The most prominent feature is the font’s swashes. Swashes of various lengths can be automatically applied via an OpenType feature that reads the surrounding characters – in both directions – and inserts swashes that sweep above or below two or even three other letters (the font knows better than to let its swashes collide with capital letters, ascenders or descenders). Another technical feature in Akin substitutes specially-designed ‘final’ glyphs in for letters that come at the end of a word. Akin supports all European languages written with the Latin script.

As a practicing graphic designer there have been numerous occasions when I have needed a font that didn’t exist. More often than not the style I was looking for was described as an extra-condensed sans-serif with a contemporary look that was available in a variety of weights. Small caps would be useful, so would a range of numeral styles. And matching italics too, of course. The proportions would consider viewing on hand-held devices, cell phones, remote controllers. And not forgetting that the font would be used in situations which required stacking the lines close. So the overshoots needed to be eliminated – the exaggeration of extremities that are intended to avoid round characters appearing smaller than their more squarish counterparts, often colliding when linespacing is tight. As I refined the design, I tested it on several works-in-progress providing a valuable testing ground and proving popular with my clients.

NATRON Rough is the textured version of NATRON (rounded and condensed sans serif), in two weights, medium and bold. It features stylistic alternates and ligatures. Both fonts support Latin and Cyrillic codepages for Western, East and Central European, and Baltic countries. Designed for tight-fitting text, NATRON Rough is great for display, branding, labels, packaging, advertising, food, sports, titles, and any other type of visual communication projects.
